New jersey national golf club, basking ridge, NJ
Golf Course Superintendent, nov. 2001-Present
18-hole private club designed by Roy Case and opened in 1997. The club sits on 267 acres, including a 10-acre practice facility and two practice greens and has 20,000 rounds played annually. The maintenance operation features a budget of over $1M with 6 full-time and 16 seasonal staff.
+ Maintained championship conditions on a daily basis, including USGA spec L-93

+ Devised annual and capital improvement budgets; communicate course work with
periodic membership updates and newsletters
+ Coordinated staff members to participate and volunteer in local PGA tournaments
+ Registered New Jersey National Golf Club as a Certified Audubon Sanctuary
+ Restructured grounds maintenance practices and personnel with much success;
highlights include:
+ Integrated an aggressive aerification program to improve turf quality
+ Computerized record data systems
+ Began tree removal and tree pruning program
+ Updated, purchased, and maintained a modern equipment fleet
+ Started an aggressive fairway topdressing program
+ Developed student internship program to enhance staffing
+ Implemented several renovation projects to the golf course that include:
+ Reconstructed (70) bunkers on an in-house basis
+ Installed practice facility (2 practice bunkers, chipping area, and 4 target greens)
+ Expanded irrigation with 300 perimeter sprinklers additions
+ Rebuilt tees with a leveling renovation program
BETHPAGE STATE PARK, farmingdale, ny

90-hole public facility designed by A.W. Tillinhast and Alfred Tull. The property is situated on nearly 1600 acres and has over 275,000 rounds of play each year. The Black Course is currently ranked #21 in America’s Best 100 and has hosted two US Opens. The maintenance operation features a budget of $2.5M with 44 full-time and 75 seasonal staff.
+ Managed the Black Course, a Top 100 course with excellent conditioning and
attention to detail
+ Involved in personnel management, recruitment, training, and discipline of
unionized crew
+ Participated in $3M renovation of the Black Course in preparation for hosting the
2002 US Open
